Worth Reading

Postby Ephemerich » 27 Feb 2015 01:19

Lets start with a book from last year, The Martian. As a sci-fi nerd, all I can say is "What a book!". 1 chapter left to read but I have no rush. I'm living the moment (:

This one is on my list but I have started the Foundation Sci-Fi series atm.

A good Sci-Fi book I read recently is 'The Stars my Destination'

Ha. I didn't think anyone in here are avid sci-fi book worms. :SOA:

I got quite a few to recommend if you guys are into this stuff:
1. One of my favourites:

2. The foundation series is awesome
Image
2.1 Prelude to Foundation
2.2 Forward the Foundation
2.3 Foundation
2.4 Foundation and Empire
2.5 Second Foundation
2.6 Foundation's Edge
2.7 Foundation and Earth

3. You're not a true sci-fi fan without reading DUNE (at least the Frank Herbert books)
Image
3.1 Dune (1965)
3.2 Dune Messiah (1969)
3.3 Children of Dune (1976)
3.4 God Emperor of Dune (1981)
3.5 Heretics of Dune (1984)
3.6 Chapterhouse: Dune (1985)

4. In the last couple of weeks I've been reading the OLD MAN's WAR series from John Scalzi - quite an unique universe

You'll find all the books of the series here: https://www.goodreads.com/series/40789-old-man-s-war

Thanks ThunderLeopard. I added The Stars my Destination to my list, I will read it after finishing "All The Light We Cannot See".
BoogieM, about "The Foundation" series, I need to clear my list before jumping onto them (:

Old Mans War was awesome.

Best Military Sci Fi I read so far was Enders Game though. But If you saw the movie allready it might be not as good.

Anyway 1984 anyone? :)

I've read it twice... it's too depressing...
But you should read "Circle"...

I like the German author Frank Schärting and his best seller "The Swarm" pretty much...

Same here, but it still works fine, so I don't see a reason to buy a new one.

U think so? Well I don't agree with you, this may be true about Fitzek's books (don't know, didn't read any of them) but imho "Aphabet House" isn't really the book for women 30+ ;)
