Found a Aerodactyl out of nowhere today, but nothing special besides that.
Also, I've realized that if you don't have mulitple pokemons at 800+ there's no use to place your best at a Gym that you just conquered.
Because you need to own that gym for 24 hours to get the care package, and it'll probably be lost before that.
So I'm doing this instead:

And yes, Orrie was taken....

From what I've gathered, the CP is very relative to your trainer level. I've caught the same type of pokemon with ~20 and ~200 CP in the same hour, and you can still boost that 200 cp guy. So my idea is that you just collect a few of the same type and spare the strongest, transfer the rest at the end of your session, rinse repeat a few days. Ratattatatata, Pidgey and Drowzee are my most common mobs, so those are for me easy to level, and those can be used to quickly get a higher CP tier 2/3 pokemon.
Pidgeot and Hypno are pretty OP with CP, so if you get shit loads of the first tier, keep and collect.
Also, that Egg sheet that Mokka posted gives a good hint on what tier the pokemons are.
